1.    作品1:Never give up!----Reflections on David Copperfield  作者 :王曉霞 東陽市順風(fēng)高中 高二 5班指導(dǎo)老師: 韋海寧        During the summer vacation, I borrowed a book called David Copperfield from the  library. I spent ten days reading it.   It is said that David Copperfield is one of the most famous masterpieces of Charles Dickens . Dickens once said: “among all my works, David Copperfield was my favorite.” The main character David Copperfield’s father died before he was born. He had a happy childhood before his ninth birthday. When he was eight, he was warmly invited to Pigsty’s house. There, he spent a free holiday and made some new friends. Actually, it was his last happy time in his childhood. When he returned home, he found that his life had completely changed. His mother had been married to Mr.Murdstone, a stern man with the coldest heart in the world. He didn’t like David at all and poor David was forced to be sent to a worst boarding school.,where students were treated violently. He had to work in the laboratory of his stepfather when he was only ten years old! His work there was dirty, tiring and boring .When David’s weak mother finally left him, he felt as if he had been an orphan in the world . It was the hardest time in David’s life but he never gave up. David ran away to his aunt for shelter, Luckily, Aunt Betsay agreed to help David and from then on, David’s darkest time ended. and begun his adventure of a new life. Through so many difficulties, David grew to be strong enough to solve problems and had his own happy ending. He fell in love with a pretty young lady, Dora, and married her Meanwhile Copperfield became a famous writer for living and also for his long-lasting dream. But then another tragedy happened--Dora died for she was too weak for a baby. Copperfield was so stricken that he decided to leave London and move to a faraway and silent place, where he continued his writing for three years. During the period, he kept in touch with Agnes, and his deep love on Agnes got clearer every day. After he finished his book, he went back to London with a clear idea of what he should do. He proposed marriage with Agnes, who was so happy for she had been in love with him for so many years. They got married and lived happily ever since. David Copperfield’ life was always tough while he was always struggling for his freedom and his happiness with his hard-bitten heart. He experienced both the dark and bright sight of the society at the same time When I finished reading it, I realized there is power rising from the bottom of my heart. The power told me that I should study hard.  No matter how hard it is ! we should never give up. we all should fight against the gray things in our life. Finally, I drew a conclusion .Firstly, I must believe in myself if I want to succeed. Secondly, trying my best to do things is also very important. If you have great dreams, but you don’t make efforts to realize it , you won’t be successful. Never give up! David has set a good example for us. Maybe we can learn something from Copperfield!(588詞)     作品2:My thoughts after reading Wuthering Heights 作者:吳 超東陽市順風(fēng)高中  高二5班指導(dǎo)老師: 韋海寧   During the National Day, I was reading a book which was called Wuthering Heights. It was writtenbyEmily Bronte .Emily Bronte is perhaps the greatest writer of the three Bronte sisters – Charlotte, Emily and Anne. She only published only one book— Wuthering Height . It was talking about a love story which happened in Yorkshire, between two families. There are many people in the story. The first family is the Mr Earnshaw. Mr Earnshaw and Mrs. Earnshaw had two daughters---Cathering and Frances. Their son was Hingdley. Hingdley had a son who was called Harleton. They were living in the Wuthering Heights. But the second family---the Lintons were living in the Thrushcross Grange. Mr Linton and Mrs linton had a son whose name was Edgar. They also had a daughter, she was called Isabella. In 1770, Mr. Earnshaw came back from a long journey. He had brought a dirty, black-haired gipsy child. The child was called Heathcliff. As time went by, Heathcliff and Catherine were falling in love. But Hindley hated Heathcliff. He disagreed that Catherine played with Heathcliff. At last, Catherine married Edgar Linton because Edgar was rich, and she would be the most important woman for miles around. The main reason was that she can help Heathcliff with her husband ‘money. Hindley had made Heathcliff become a poor, dull farm worker. So Heathcliff hated Earnshaws , and Lintons . In 1787, Heathcliff had changed. He wore a confident, intelligent expression on his face, and his manner was no longer rough. The farm boy had become a gentleman. He had worked all his life to destroy these two families, the Earnshaws and the Lintons. He had got their money and their land. But he had lost Catherine. For something his whole body and heart and brain had wanted for so long! It’s a long fight! He wished it were finished! In 1802, Mr Heathcliff was there in bed, lying on his back. His eyes were so eagerly and fiercely, and he seemed to be smiling! He was dead! The three gravestones close to the moor Catherine’s, the middle one, is old one. On one side is Edgar Linton’s, and on the other is Heathcliff’s new one. Hindley’s son, Hareton and Catherine and Edgar’s daughter, Cathy got married. They were living happily.  The main reason for making the lover separate from is their selves .They are proud, selfish. They can’t decide their lives. As a result, love usually fails because of these reasons. In a word, I hope that everyone doesn’t start to cherish something until you have lost it. Please cherish what you have now. That’s my thought about Wuthering Heights. It’s really a good book. The story is wonderful, and the structure is also extremely excellent. The author Emily Bronte uses a series of flashbacks and time shifts draws a powerful picture of this story. Because of its wonderful story, excellent structure and graceful language, the book left a deep impression on me. I’d like to recommend it to other readers. I’m sure Readers will really gain much from this book.(548)       作品3 Impression of Great Expectatio  作者 :黃英超 東陽市順風(fēng)高中高二7班 指導(dǎo)老師:韋海寧     本文獲東陽市2010年讀后感競賽評比民辦高中組二等獎    During the summer vacation, I read a book named Great Expectation., which was written by Charles Dickens, One of the most famous English writers.  “Great expectations” is one of Dickens’s most matures and relatively late works.
