Keen certificate test

The growing tendency among college students to get all kinds of certificates has now evolved into a craze. Just randomly ask a student what he or she is busily engaged in doing, quite possibly, you would get the answer that he or she is preparing for a certificate of some kind. So, why's the craze? The reason behind this phenomenon is common — the enormous pressure of finding a job. Faced with a harsh job market, most students have no choice but to seek more certificates to parlay their qualifications. Another factor is that diploma and certificates still weighs heavily in terms of signifying one's ability. For the sake of increasing their odds of landing a better job, the students are compelled to run from one exam to another. Though I have an open mind toward the craze on certificates, I suggest that students should be more rational when it comes to certificates, since they do not necessarily tell their ability. Instead, they should be more involved in learning and capability boosting, thus, opportunities would come quite naturally.

Want to be a small fish in a big pond or the other way round? Every graduate faces this question when starting his career. A large number of college graduates prefer to stay in big cities, which mean more experiences, more opportunities to see the big world and more space for career development. At the same time, higher salary is another temptation。

But some other graduates intend to start in small towns. Even though there may not be many big companies, they can have a quieter and less competitive life. Another reason is that they can be a big fish in a small pond. They can easily get the management’s attention and may win promotion earlier。

As far as I am concerned, I prefer to start in a metropolis like Shanghai. A good begin is half the battle, and in Shanghai I can find a job in a big company where I can meet people from different places and cultures. I will learn from them what I can not get from textbooks.

Nowadays, more and more university graduates complain that graduation does not equate to employment. They experience great difficulties finding satisfactory jobs. What is the cause of this phenomenon

In my opinion, there are four causes:

First, graduates lack experience. They spend most of their time at school studying academic subjects and lack relevant job training. Only after graduation do they realize it’s hard to find jobs.

Second, competition among graduates grows more bitter and more bitter and bitter. The supply of university graduates exceeds social demand. This results in a decreased chance for any individual graduate to find a job.

Third, some students don’t study hard. Some of them skip classes just because they have no interest in certain subjects. Some play computer games or pursue other interests. Some sleep in class or in the library. Then they leave the sheltered environment of the university campus, to discover they don’t have adequate knowledge to apply for many positions, which makes them feel lost and frustrated.

Finally, some graduates are conceited. They lack experience but ask for a high salary, which is impractical.

So, university students should try their best to change this situation. When they are in school, they should make the most of their time and put their heart into their studies. They can hold part-time jobs in their spare time to accumulate relevant work experience. They should take part in some social activities and provide themselves with special training, if possible. When they graduate and apply for jobs, they should attach more importance to accumulating experience than to their starting salary.

On University Students’ Pressure in Finding Jobs

About a decade ago, university students could find satisfactory and enviable jobs after their graduation. But now, things are different. Today's university students usually have much pressure in finding fairly good jobs. They always say disappointedly that graduation means joblessness. Why nowadays university students have so much pressure in finding jobs?

In my opinion, this kind of pressure is mainly caused by three reasons. Firstly, the government is enrolling more and more university students year by year. And the growth of the students' number has surpassed that of the need of the society. So, when so many students graduate at a time, the chance of finding jobs becomes tiny. Secondly, today's university students, most of them are the "only-child", who are more mentally frail. Since they are indulged greatly at home and haven't been trained to do things on their own, once it is their turn to go out of the campus and find jobs by themselves and decide what kind of jobs to choose, they feel bewildered and don't know what to do. If their first try fails, they will be frustrated and think that it is really hard to find jobs. Thirdly, some university students are not qualified for good and challenging jobs. After entering the university, they don't study as hard as they did in high schools. They begin to sleep during the class or even be absent for classes. Some are addicted to computer games or Jin Yong's novels, or step into the two-person-world too early. Because these things have taken up so much of their time and energy, their study is neglected. After four years of university life, they haven't gained the knowledge those fairly good jobs or certain positions require.

Humor has become one of the most attractive characteristics a successful person must have nowadays, not only because it can bring laughter and happiness to people, but also because it shows a man's a bility.

A little joke can easily remove an unpleasant conflict, change the talking atmosphere and make it harmonious.Under such circum stances, businessmen can make a big deal and politicians can sign an agreement, which are good bases for future cooperation.

Some humor enables people to feel bitterness from laughs, which we call "cold humor" or "black humor". At this time, humor is like a sharp sword, which may pierce people's heart. People may wipe sadtears after laughing and contemplate after the shock given by the story. It often appears in movies and novels.

Humor plays a great role on some important occasions, when a person, especially a great one, is judged from such a capacity. It can help leaders to point out. shortcomings or wrong behavior of his subordinates, without letting them feel embarrassed. So sometimes we also regard it as a certain kind of art. Humor is important in everyone's life, whoever he is. Because you can deal with all kinds of embarrassing occaslon with this special skill. Why not enrich your knowledge and become a man with a good sense of humor?

I see two kinds of pressure working on college students today: economic pressure, parental pressure. It is easy to look around for rebels to blame the colleges for charging too much money, the parents for pushing them too far. But there are no rebels, only victims.

The pressure is heavy on students who just want to graduate and get a job. If I were an employer I would rather employ graduates who have this range and curiosity than those who narrowly pursued safe subjects and high grades. I know incalculable students whose inquiring minds cheer me. I like to hear the play of their ideas. I dont know if they are getting A or C, and I dont care. I also like them as people. The country needs them, and they will find satisfying jobs. I tell them to relax, but they cant.

Nor can I blame them. They live in a brutal economy. Today it is not unusual for a student, even if he works part time at college and full time during the summer, to increase to 5, 000 in loans after graduation.Encouraged at commencement to go forth into the world, he is already behind as he goes forth. How could he not feel under pressure throughout college to prepare for this day of reckoning?

Its Time to Stop Software Piracy

Its Time to Stop Software Piracy

China has often been criticized for the rampant practice of software piracy. Take a look around. We operate on pirated Windows systems, defend PC security with pirated Kaspersky anti-virus programmes, process files with pirated Microsoft Office, draft 3D designs with pirated AutoCAD, refine pictures with pirated Adobe Photoshop, and study English with pirated Kingsofts electronic dictionaries and translators. Its no exaggeration that pirated software is everywhere.

The logic behind the phenomenon is simple and clear: if a pirated copy is available for just a tiny fraction of the normal price, not to speak of many of the free downloads online, who would pay for an authentic copy? Cheaper prices aside, easy access is another important factor. With such a large gathering of pirated upgrades around, who would bother to spend time and money searching the stores for an authorized yet outdated version?

Despite these apparent benefits, the practice of software piracy should be banned, because it represents unfair competition and by nature its a no-win situation. But how? Two approaches are to be taken at the same time: Technically, software developers should enhance their antipiracy engineering, so that cracking the software should be virtually impossible. And legally, the government should also tighten its antipiracy laws and toughen up the penalties, so that violations should be costly.

Peking University will enroll students recommended by high school principals in 20xx.Tthe recommended students will have extra 30 points added to their national college entrance exam scores. Peking University’s move has set off a nationwide debate.

Some people approve of this move. They think this is a bold attempt to reform the current university entrance system, which provides high-quality students and students talented in certain subjects with an opportunity to enter first – class universities and ensure that they aren’t overlooked simply because of their performance in the national university entrance exam. Meanwhile, it will push high schools to pay more attention to the students’ all – round development.

However, quite a few people are opposed to the move. In their opinion, it may lead to cheating. Besides, only 39 schools are qualified to recommend students, which is unfair to other schools across the country. Finally, there is no point giving extra scores to those recommended students, for they are mostly top students and have no difficulty entering Peking University.

As far as I’m concerned, I’m in favor of this reform. As the process of recommendation is transparent, cheating is impossible. Besides, we should support new reforms even if they are not mature.

once upon a time there was a queen who had a beautiful baby daughter. she asked all the fairies in the kingdom to the christening, but unfortunately forgot to invite one of them, who was a bit of a witch as well. she came anyway, but as she passed the babys cradle, she said:

銆?銆?when you are siteen, you will injure yourself with a spindle and die!

銆?銆?oh, no! screamed the queen in horror. a good fairy quickly chanted a magic spell to change the curse. when she hurt herself, the girl would fall into a very deep sleep instead of dying.

銆?銆?the years went by, the little princess grew and became the most beautiful girl in the whole kingdom. her mother was always very careful to keep her away from spindles, but the princess, on her siteenth birthday, as she wandered through the castle, came into a room where an old servant was spinning.

銆?銆?what are you doing? she asked the servant.

銆?銆?im spinning. havent you seen a spindle before?

銆?銆?no. let me see it! the servant handed the girl the spindle ... and she pricked herself with it and. with a sigh, dropped to the

  floor.

銆?銆?the terrified old woman hurried to tell the queen. beside herself with anguish, the queen did her best to awaken her daughter but in vain. the court doctors and wizards were called, but there was nothing they could do. the girl could not be wakened from her deep sleep. the good fairy who managed to avoid the worst of the curse came too, and the queen said to her,

銆?when will my daughter waken?

銆?銆?i dont know, the fairy admitted sadly.

銆?銆?in a years time, ten years or twenty? the queen went on.

銆?銆?maybe in a hundred years time. who knows? said the fairy.

銆?銆?oh! what would make her waken? asked the queen weeplng.

銆?銆?love, replied the fairy. if a man of pure heart were to fall in love with her, that would bring her back to life!

銆?銆?how can a man fall in love with a sleeping girl? sobbed the queen, and so heart-broken was she that, a few days later, she died. the sleeping princess was taken to her room and laid on the bed surrounded by garlands of flowers. she was so beautiful, with a sweet face, not like those of the dead, but pink like those who are sleeping peacefully. the good fairy said to herself,

銆?銆?when she wakens, who is she going to see around her? strange faces and people she doesnt know? i can never let that happen. it would be too painful for this unfortunate girl.

銆?銆?so the fairy cast a spell; and everyone that lived in the castle - soldiers, ministers, guards, servants, ladies, pages, cooks, maids and knights - all fell into a deep sleep, wherever they were at that very moment.

銆?銆?now, thought the fairy, when the princess wakes up, they too will awaken, and life will go on from there. and she left the castle, now wrapped in silence. not a sound was to be heard, nothing moved ecept for the clocks, but when they too ran down, they stopped, and time stopped with them. not even the faintest rustle was to be heard, only the wind whistling round the turrets, not a single voice, only the cry of birds.

銆?銆?the years sped past. in the castle grounds, the trees grew tall. the bushes became thick and straggling, the grass invaded the courtyards and the creepers spread up the walls. in a hundred years, a dense forest grew up.

銆?銆?now, it so happened that a prince arrived in these parts. he was the son of a king in a country close by. young, handsome and melancholy, he sought in solitude everything he could not find in the company of other men: serenity, sincerity and purity. wandering on his trusty steed he arrived, one day, at the dark forest. being adventurous, he decided to

eplore it. he made his way through slowly and with a struggle, for the trees and bushes grew in a thick tangle. a few hours later, now losing heart, he was about to turn his orse and go back when he thought he could see something through the trees . . . he pushed back the branches . . .. wonder of wonders! there in front of him stood a castle with high towers. the young man stood stock still in amazement,

銆? i wonder who this castle belongs to? he thought.

銆? the young prince rode on towards the castle. the drawbridge was down and, holding his horse by the reins, he crossed over it. immediately he saw the inhabitants draped all over the steps, the halls and courtyards, and said to himself,

銆?銆?good heavens! theyre dead! but in a moment, he realised that they were sound asleep. wake up! wake up! he shouted, but nobody moved. still thoroughly astonished, he went into the castle and again discovered more people, lying fast asleep on the floor. as

though led by a hand in the complete silence, the prince finally reached the room where the beautiful princess lay fast asleep. for a long time he stood gazing at her face, so full of serenity, so peaceful, lovely and pure, and he felt spring to his heart that

love he had always been searching for and never found. overcome by emotion, he went close, lifted the girls little white hand and gently kissed it . . .

銆?銆?at that kiss, the prlncess qulckly opened her eyes, and wakening from her long long sleep, seeing the prince beside her, murmured:

銆?銆?oh, you have come at last! i was waiting for you in my dream. ive waited so long!

銆?銆?just then, the spell was broken. the princess rose to her feet, holding out her hand to the prince. and the whole castle woke up too. everybody rose to their feet and they all stared round in amazement, wondering what had happened. when they finally realised, they rushed to the princess, more beautiful and happier then ever.

銆?銆?a few days later, the castle that only a short time before had lain in silence, now rang with the sound of singing, music and happy laughter at the great party given in honour of the prince and princess, who were getting married. they lived happily ever after, as they always do in fairy tales, not quite so often, however, in real life.

With the increasing number of universitygraduate fail to find a job, some parents start to hold the opinion that goingto university is nothing but waste money and time. They argue that if familyhas the money to support child to attend to university, they would rather tospend the money to support their child to start their own business, which mightget more reward than go to university. In my point of view, I cannot agree withthat.

In the first place, university is not aplace only to learning knowledge from books, but also it could open a door to abrand new world to students. For instance, there are lots of students’association in university, students could choose one or two to learn andpractice their skills according to their hobbies, such as a universityentrepreneurs club is a nice chose for a student who are going to start theirown business after graduated, it will help them to make less mistakes on theroad to success.

In the second place, who could guaranteethat a high school graduates would make a success in business field. Apparentlythey are lack of professional business knowledge and experience. What’s themost important is that they are lack of contacts. Those factors will make themfail every easily, even though they have a strong money backup from theirparents.

To speak frankly, students should go touniversity if they get the chance. It will be totally different from go to thesocial college.
